JordanCon 2026 Anthology Submissions

Every year JordanCon publishes an anthology featuring art and stories submitted by guests and attendees of the convention. All proceeds from the sale of the anthology go toward supporting the JordanCon Charity. We are looking for stories from poetry to flash fiction and short stories, to novelettes and novellas. Plus, we need interior art, and possibly cover art!

The theme of the JordanCon 2026 Anthology is Beyond the Veil.

Veils represent many things and the concept can be used broadly in art and literature. A veil can hide the wearer from others, making them difficult to recognize, or, as in Ancient Rome, to ward off evil spirits, particularly at a wedding ceremony. The veil doesn’t even have to be physical; it could be a mental mask that the wearer dons in order to present a different face to the world for any of a myriad of reasons.

Veils can also separate us from different realities, different dimensions… and even death. The term “beyond the veil” can be interpreted to mean “in a mysterious or hidden place or state, especially the unknown state of life after death.” Unveiling something hidden could also be a way to approach this theme.

These are only broad examples and non-exhaustive. We cherish creativity on theme. Stories and art must also fall within the categories of Science Fiction, Fantasy, or Horror, meaning that they must contain elements of one or more of these genres.

There are three submission forms, so please check the eligibility requirements to make sure you are using the correct form.

We have changed our submission guidelines for this anthology and they are as follows: poetry – various word count; flash fiction – 1,000-2,000 words; short story – 2,001-7,000 words; novelette – 7,001-15,000 words; and novella – 15,001-22,000 words. While you are welcome to submit numerous pieces, only one story per author will be chosen for inclusion in the anthology.
Full submission guidelines are in the forms, and can also be found here.
Please be sure to read them and follow them. If you have any questions, please email Paige and Mandy at anthology@jordancon.org.
