GENERAL INFORMATION

Is JordanCon 2021 happening?

We are thrilled to confirm that we plan to host an in-person JordanCon this summer! The event will take place July 16-18, 2021 at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter at Ravinia hotel.

I need all of the details immediately. I’m excited, and I must know now. Where can I find more information?

We are still working on plans and preparations for the July event. We will continue to release information here and on our social media channels as it becomes available.

Why are you hosting an in-person event? That does not seem safe! Just wait another year!

Due to our contractual obligations, our choice was to host an event this year in the safest manner we can manage, or file for bankruptcy and accept that this will end the JordanCon organization and prohibit any future events.

MEMBERSHIPS (TICKETS) & REGISTRATION

I already purchased a membership. Now what?

All 2020 membership holders should have received an RSVP link to let us know whether they are coming to the event in July. If you received the RSVP but did not indicate that you are coming to the 2021 event, we do NOT have you on our list for 2021.

If you purchased a membership for the 2021 event, you need to provide proof of vaccination by July 5th to be able to attend. The link to submit this proof is in the email with your ticket information. If you do not submit proof of vaccination by this date, you WILL NOT be able to attend the 2021 event.

No physical ticket will be sent to you in advance. Your purchase will be marked as “Pending” in your JordanCon account until the event is completed.

Is my membership purchased for 2020 rolled over to 2021?

Not automatically.

You must have responded via the RSVP form that was emailed to you to request one (1) of the following options:

Option 1: Request to attend JordanCon 2021 using your pre-registration Membership (subject to capacity constraint of 500 people, including staff, but not including guests such as authors, artists, vendors, and media). Note that you must submit proof of vaccination prior to the event, and that this is a request because if we hit our membership cap before you submit your RSVP, you will not be able to attend the 2021 event.
Option 2: Forfeit/Donate your membership cost to financially support JordanCon.
Option 3: Roll over your membership to 2022.

PLEASE NOTE: If you did not RSVP by July 1, Option 2 has been automatically applied, and your membership cost was be donated to JordanCon. To be clear, you will not be able to attend the 2021 event, and you will need to purchase a new membership to attend the 2022 event.

Will the hotel be providing shuttle services from the airport and/or MARTA station?

In the past, the hotel has provided a shuttle to and from both locations; however, we received word that they will not be doing so this weekend. This is unexpected news and we are working to get more details. We will update this entry as we know more and share the information on our social channels.

Where can I get food near the hotel?

There are a lot of great food options in the area. You can also take advantage of food delivery services. We will be also be posting a blog with some options in case you’re having trouble finding something that suits your tastes and needs.)

PROGRAMMING & SERVICES

Will the 2021 event include the usual events?  ConSuite, Karaoke, Dance Party, etc.?

No. The 2021 event will be scaled down and several annual events will not take place as safety remains our top priority.

Examples of activities that will NOT take place in 2021 include: ConSuite, Karaoke, Dance Party, Poker Tournament, Blademaster Tournament, and Speed Friending.

All program tracks will run a reduced schedule, and there will not be an art & artists track, though we are planning to host the art show and art auction.

I want to make sure I have my badge in time to go to the first panel. Can I pick it up any earlier than Friday?

Yes! Registration will be open on Thursday from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm in the pre-function area. (Please remember that no memberships will be sold on site. You can only pick up a badge if you’ve already purchased a membership online and provided your proof of vaccination before July 5th.)

Since there will understandably be no ConSuite for JordanCon 2021, are there plans to provide any kind of food?

There may be a limited number of pre-packaged snacks available during the event but the amount is undetermined at this time. The hotel restaurant is currently planning to be open (not for lunch), and there are local restaurants and dining services that offer dine-in, carry-out, and delivery options.

What guests are planning to attend the event in July 2021?

Our Author Guest of Honor, Marie Brennan, is currently planning to attend. Members of Team Jordan and Team Sanderson, including Brandon Sanderson, are also planning to attend. Due to a scheduling conflict, our original Artist Guest of Honor, Mark Poole, will not be able to attend. We hope to host him at a future JordanCon. Please continue to check JordanCon.org for guest updates.

Will there still be a Charity Auction this year?

Yes! We will still have the Charity Auction onsite to raise funds to support Amyloidosis research at the Mayo Clinic.

I ordered a t-shirt and/or Anthology but won’t be able to attend, what can I do to get it?

In the case that you have designated a proxy to pick up your Shirt and/or Anthology Pre-orders, we wanted to provide you a way to update your proxy information to allow them to pick up your items. JordanCon offers proxy pickup of the JordanCon 2021 Shirt and Anthology at the onsite JordanCon Store. For pre-ordered items, during the ordering process you had the option to designate someone as a proxy to pick up items for you. If since ordering these items you are not able to attend JordanCon 2021 and need to designate or change your proxy information, simply provide the proxy person with a copy of your confirmation e-mail listing out the items that you pre-ordered. The proxy will need to provide the e-mail (preferably printed out) to the JordanCon Store staff as proof that they can pick up your items. The confirmation e-mail will include your name and order number and items listed so that the proxy can pick up the items on your behalf. If you are not able to find a proxy for the items that you ordered, do not fret. The JordanCon Store will hold all orders not picked up at JordanCon 2021 to be available for you or a proxy at JordanCon 2022.

I contributed a story to the JordanCon 2021 Anthology, how do I get a copy if I will not be able to attend?

Contributors complimentary copies will be mailed to their home addresses on file with JordanCon.

I contributed to the JordanCon Fundraiser on GoFundme. When can I get my rewards?

All rewards for the JordanCon GoFundMe Charity Fundraiser will be distributed at JordanCon 2022.

Is it too late to donate to the JordanCon GoFundMe campaign?

We are still accepting donations. The campaign will remain open until the close of JordanCon 2021 on July 18th. You can find the campaign here.

I’m excited for JordanCon 2021, and I want to get involved. How do I do that?

We are still looking for volunteers to help out at JordanCon 2021. If you are interested in volunteering, and are a current membership holder, you can visit our Eventeny page to sign up for shifts. Reach out to volunteering@jordancon.org with questions.

As we approach the event, we will continue to update you here and on our social media channels. Be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Reddit to connect with our fantastic community.

The JordanCon Store and Art Show will NOT be accepting cash for payment this year. Only contactless forms of payment via debit or credit card will be accepted.

Masks will be required in all convention spaces and we will, at the minimum, be following CDC recommendations throughout the event. Rooms will be set up to allow for social distancing, there is a membership cap in place, everyone needs to pass a temperature check each day to enter the convention space, and some of our normal JordanCon activities such as the Dance Party, Karaoke, Speed Friending and the ConSuite will not be held this year.

Additionally, we will be requiring ALL attendees, staff, guests, and volunteers to be vaccinated (and have received their last injection no later than July 1) in order to attend. The only exceptions to this requirement will be for those who have a documented medical issue that prevents them from being able to receive the vaccine.

This means that anyone who is not 12 or older, and therefore unable to receive the vaccine in time for the event, will not be able to attend. We will require all attendees to provide proof of vaccination prior to arriving at the event. Anyone who does not have proof of vaccination or who refuses to follow our safety protocols will have their badges revoked, will not receive a refund, and will not be allowed into the event space. The safety of everyone in attendance is our top priority.

What if I don’t want to get the vaccine? Can I still attend?

Unless you have a medical reason that you cannot receive the vaccine, you will not be able to attend JordanCon 2021 without proof of vaccination. This is to ensure the safety of everyone in attendance, and we cannot make exceptions.

HOTEL

If I do not already have a reservation, how do I book my hotel room?
