Hey, JordanCon writer! If you or someone you know is interested in submitting a story to the JordanCon 2026 Anthology, Beyond the Veil, we wanted to take a moment and talk about the changes we’ve made regarding submissions this year. Instead of just short stories and novellas, we’ve expanded what we’re going to accept by way of story submissions!
We’ll be accepting the following in the genres of sci-fi, fantasy, and/or horror:
poetry – various word counts
flash fiction – 1,000-2,000 words
short story – 2,001-7,000 words
novelette – 7,001-15,000 words
novella – 15,001-22,000 words
Please note that poetry or flash fiction would have a smaller honorarium than shorts or a novelette or novella. And remember that submissions close on September 15th, so you have a smidge under 3 months to come up with something to wow us! And as some of you may know to do, if you have something a bit longer than our novella word count would allow for, email Paige or message her on Facebook to chat about it! Each year, the proceeds of the anthology sales go to the convention’s chosen charity, the Mayo Clinic. This is where our dear Creator, Robert Jordan, was treated for his rare illness, amyloidosis. We lost Jordan on September 16, 2007, and with the inception of the convention the following year, we’ve donated to the Mayo Clinic each year.
We hope that you choose to support the convention and our charity in 2026 by submitting art or stories, or by purchasing an anthology. Our theme for the anthology is Beyond the Veil, and we anticipate lots of wonderful content. You’ll soon be able to preorder the anthology on the JordanCon site, and it will also be available to purchase at the convention, which takes place April 17-19, 2026. The paperback edition will be available to order on Amazon beginning April 17, 2026 with a Kindle edition to follow soon after. And remember, authors and artists who are accepted into the anthology receive not only an honorarium for submitting, but also receive a complimentary copy of the anthology.
