GoH Book Club- Chapter 5!

After Chapter 4's cliffhanger, I had to start this one right away. It doesn't leave for peaceful sleep leaving with the "OMG! Climb up there, Raseed! The old man's in trouble!" feeling of the last chapter! lol

GoH Book Club- Chapter 4!

Now, we're getting to some meat!

.
This chapter is in Raseed's head and we get to see Adoulla from his eyes. I think it's a great thing to see Raseed acknowledge that, even though Adoulla isn't perfect (he burps and curses!), he's still a devout follower of God and blessed by him, as well. You can be a man of God without being as devout as a dervish! This is a fantastic statement, I think!

I also think it's funny they get into a scripture battle, quoting verses back and forth at each other. Maybe that's just me, though.

GoH Book Club- Chapter 3!

Good evening and welcome to Chapter 3! Unlike the backstory of Chapter 2, this one is PACKED with goodies! Let's dive in, shall we?

GoH Book Club- Chapter 2!

Welcome to Chapter 2! We're delving deeper into Adoulla's past with this chapter!

GoH Book Club- Chapter 1!

Hello and welcome to Chapter 1! Sorry about last week's slacking. I caught the plague from an SCA event and all I wanted to do was sleep!

But I'm back this week and we're going to hit 3 chapters to make up for it! So many of you are enjoying this book, I know you're chomping at the bit to talk about some meaty stuff!

So, without further ado, Chapter 1!

Chapter I (that's not a one...)

Let me preface this by saying that these are my thoughts as I read through this book for the first time. I'm sure I'll be back to "OHHHH!!!" as we read more!

Now, on to the discussion:

First, let me say this prologue really creeped me out. It did exactly what it was supposed to do, in that it dropped me in the middle of the frying pan and made me feel sorry for the slab of meat that was cooking there. It loaded me with tons of questions and part of me isn't sure I want the answers!

The GoH Book Club: Pre-reading Post 1

So, let's get one thing straight, right from the start. I HATE being told what to read. I read like a maniac and I love people recommending books, but I really DESPISE being told that I HAVE to read something. That's my biggest problem with Book Clubs in the real world. It was a huge problem while I was in school.

Why am I telling you this? Because I'm going to spend a few days finding recommendations for you so that you don't feel like I'm telling you what to read. Why is that important? Because I actually want you to read this book. Seriously, I want you to READ this book!

Introducing The GoH Book Club!

Greetings from Swords & Sorcery!

I am Loraine, the luckiest track director on the planet, and together, we're creating the first edition of our Guest of Honor Book Club! This will become a yearly read along to help get everyone even MORE excited about the best Con in the WORLD (not like I'm partial or anything).

The idea here is to post Chapter reviews in blog style here on the JordanCon website that will be cross posted to a group on Facebook set up just for this purpose, as well as the JordanCon Facebook group so we can have a conversation about it!
