About JordanCon

JordanCon is a fantasy literature convention founded in honor of the late author, Robert Jordan. Jordan was the author of the best-selling The Wheel of Time series. JordanCon features eight tracks of simultaneous programming, a Dealers' Hall, gaming, an Art Show featuring original art by a variety of artists, and charity events benefiting the Mayo Clinic and other charities. Past guests have included Harriet McDougal, Brandon Sanderson, Mary Robinette Kowal, Sam Weber, David Wong, Jana G. Oliver, Emilie Bush, David B. Coe, Eugie Foster, Seanan McGuire, Michael Whelan, Larry Elmore, Saladin Ahmed, Todd Lockwood, and Patrick Rothfuss.

We are a 501c4 tax-exempt organization.

In 2013, we hosted the fifty-first DeepSouthCon, the Southeast's premiere regional convention for fans of genre literature, and we will be hosting DeepSouthCon 54 in 2016. Our 2016 Guests of Honor are Catherine Asaro and John Picacio.

JordanCon/DSC has donated 2 memberships to Con or Bust

JordanCon, host of DeepSouthCon 54, has donated two 2016 memberships to Con or Bust, a not-for-profit organization whose mission it is to increase diversity at Science Fiction and Fantasy conventions by helping non-white individuals obtain memberships and funds to attend. Since 2009, they have raised over $54,000 through donations and auctions, allowing nearly 200 people to attend dozens of different conventions.

Meet the Artist: Joe O'Hara

Joe O'Hara is a licensed Wheel of Time artist, with art featured in The Wheel of Time Companion as well as in Ta'veren Tees' popular Wheel of Time calendars. In 2012 he won the first-ever JordanCon Art Show Judge's Choice Award for his work "Wheel of Time Characters," an entire panel of 18 original Wheel of Time character portraits. While he has become recognized among fans for his amazing art as well as his Mat Cauthon cosplay, his true claim to notoriety is as one of the founders and instigators of the tWoTcast podcast. In 2014, he and the rest of the TWoTcast crew were toastmasters at JordanCon.

Meet the Artist: Paul Bielaczyc

Paul Bielaczyc is a licensed Wheel of Time artist, widely recognized for his work in charcoal and pastels. He and his brother, Mike Bielaczyc, co-founded Aradani Studios in 2002. Paul began attending JordanCon in 2010 and has since become a fixture there, widely recognized for his awesome Rand al'Thor cosplay and for DJing the best dance party in fandom. He's also one of the directors of the JordanCon Art Show.

About Deep South Con

JordanCon 8 was selected as the site of DeepSouthCon 54 after the original convention "ABC DSC" was canceled. JordanCon hosted DeepSouthCon previously in 2013.

DeepSouthCon is the south's premier regional Science Fiction Convention, held every year in a different southern city. JordanCon is a natural fit to host a DeepSouthCon. We have a strong focus on literature programming, are named in honor of one of the South's most famous fantasy writers and frequently feature local and regional
authors as part of our programming.

JordanCon 8 to host DeepSouthCon 54

We are pleased to announce that JordanCon 8 has won the bid to host DeepSouthCon 54! JordanCon will also be administering the site selection for DSC 56.

In addition to JordanCon programming, the convention will feature a DeepSouthCon track, a Hearts tournament, the annual meeting of the Southern Fandom Confederation, and presentation of the Rebel & Phoenix awards for 2016.

Meet the Artist: Edsel Arnold

Edsel Arnold is a licensed Wheel of Time artist, widely recognized for his Art Nouveau-influenced style. His art is featured in The Wheel of Time Companion. Edsel has been exhibiting his art at JordanCon since 2013.

JordanCon's Favorite Recipes: The Gathering Storm

The Gathering Storm

Every winter we spend a few weekends creating and testing new drink recipes to share with our friends at JordanCon. Only the best recipes accompany us to Atlanta, usually only one or two. This past year, however, we had a particularly long, cold winter; as a result, we ended up with a handful of new recipes to share this year. One of the most dramatic (and requested) of those was a layered cocktail we like to call "The Gathering Storm." Take a look at the photo below and you should understand why.

JordanCon places emergency bid to host DeepSouthCon #54

JordanCon will enter an emergency bid to host DeepSouthCon in 2016. This follows last month’s announcement that the previously scheduled convention, “ABC DSC,” taking place in Atlanta this May, has been cancelled.

DeepSouthCon is a traveling science fiction fan convention that travels the southeastern United States. It has the distinction of being the oldest literary convention in the region, and sponsors the Phoenix and Rebel awards.
