About JordanCon

JordanCon is a fantasy literature convention founded in honor of the late author, Robert Jordan. JordanCon features eight tracks of simultaneous programming, a Dealers' Hall, gaming, an Art Show featuring original art by a variety of artists, and charity events benefiting the Mayo Clinic and other charities.

We will be hosting DeepSouthCon 54 in 2016. Our 2016 Guests of Honor are Catherine Asaro and John Picacio.

JordanCon's Favorite Recipes: Oatcakes & Cream

Oatcakes & Cream

Every winter we spend a few weekends creating and testing new drink recipes to share with our friends at JordanCon. Only the best recipes accompany us to Atlanta, usually only one or two. In early 2015, however, we had a particularly long, cold winter; as a result, we ended up with a handful of new recipes to share this past year at JordanCon 7.

"Oatcakes and Cream" is another of the drinks that came out of that long winter season: a drink designed to keep you warm and content through long dark evenings when the wind is blowing down from the mountains across the ruins of old Manetheren, blustering down the Old Road, curling around doorways and under coat flaps, when the snow is thick and crunchy under your feet, the bright moon silvery and cold in the sky as a mirror, and you hear the shivery howl of a wolf out across the chill waters of the Waterwood...

JordanCon 8 Parking PSA

A Newbie’s Survival Guide to JordanCon

by Guest Blogger Leslie Annis

We've compiled a hit list for newbies to ensure they get the most out of their whirlwind JordanCon weekend. (And a whirlwind weekend it will be, in the best of ways—trust!)

When you think JordanCon, you probably think Wheel of Time, but it’s far more than that. One thing that surprises many newbies is how many con-attendees haven’t even finished reading the series. In fact, you can go all weekend without talking WoT at all! If you’re intimidated by attending solo, think of bringing a non-Wheel-of-Time-reading friend—there are plenty of things to do that are not Wheel of Time specific, and JordanCon is a family friendly convention with lots to offer.

Remember: everyone's out to have a good time, and you'll come away from a whirlwind weekend feeling like you've met family you didn't know you had.

JordanCon/DSC has donated 2 memberships to Con or Bust

JordanCon, host of DeepSouthCon 54, has donated two 2016 memberships to Con or Bust, a not-for-profit organization whose mission it is to increase diversity at Science Fiction and Fantasy conventions by helping non-white individuals obtain memberships and funds to attend. Since 2009, they have raised over $54,000 through donations and auctions, allowing nearly 200 people to attend dozens of different conventions.

Meet the Artist: Joe O'Hara

Joe O'Hara is a licensed Wheel of Time artist, with art featured in The Wheel of Time Companion as well as in Ta'veren Tees' popular Wheel of Time calendars. In 2012 he won the first-ever JordanCon Art Show Judge's Choice Award for his work "Wheel of Time Characters," an entire panel of 18 original Wheel of Time character portraits. While he has become recognized among fans for his amazing art as well as his Mat Cauthon cosplay, his true claim to notoriety is as one of the founders and instigators of the tWoTcast podcast. In 2014, he and the rest of the TWoTcast crew were toastmasters at JordanCon.
